Endorsement from Stephanie Johnson, Saline County Justice of the Peace, District 12

Today, I proudly endorse Joshua Irby for State Senate District 16. Why would a conservative support a Democrat, you might ask? Because Joshua is a thoughtful candidate and brings a new perspective that is definitely missing in state government.

He believes in a government that is closest to the people. There doesn’t always need to be a solution to every problem that involves state government. He believes in state government where absolutely necessary and local control when it’s not.

He believes in government transparency. When state leaders sought to significantly weaken our FOIA protections a couple of years ago, it was a reminder of just how important it is to have legislators at the Capitol who will stand firmly for transparency and the public’s right to know.

He believes in fair elections. He believes that our state and federal Constitutions protect the people’s right to petition their government through the initiative and referendum process. In the last year, legislation has been advanced that, in my view, places unnecessary restrictions on that right. One of the leading voices behind those efforts has been Senator Kim Hammer, the current State Senator for District 16.

I also have concerns that Joshua’s opponent, Saline County Sheriff Rodney Wright, would be too willing to support the Governor’s agenda rather than provide the kind of independent voice I believe District 16 needs. We need legislators who are willing to evaluate each issue on its merits, stand up for constitutional principles, and remember that their first responsibility is to the people they represent.

That is why, as a conservative, I am supporting Joshua Irby.

Join me in supporting Joshua Irby for State Senate District 16! Vote to send positive change to our State Capitol!

"I’m not running for office to recite slogans — I’m running because I believe Arkansas deserves leadership rooted in respect, driven by resolve, and committed to renewal. Respect means every Arkansan, no matter where they live or who they are, is treated with dignity and heard with intention. Resolve means we don’t shy away from hard truths — we face them with courage and clarity. Renewal means we rebuild trust in our institutions and restore hope in our communities.

I believe in Common Ground because we’re stronger when we listen before we argue. I believe in Common Sense because good policy should be practical, not partisan. And I believe in the Common Good because public service should serve all, not just a few.

This isn’t just a campaign — it’s a call to come together. This is our moment."
